Master’s Degree Program on Global E-Policy and E-Government August, 2010 to July, 2011 Seoul, Korea

Government of Republic of Korea under Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has announced the Master’s Programme in the fields of E-Policy and E-Government during the year 2010-2011, for the Employees working in Government Agencies / Organizations in Pakistan. The Korea International Cooperation agency will be the entire travel cost, education cost, basic living cost, etc. The details of the said scholarship scheme are as under:

Objectives:

* To conduct academic research to enhance the understanding of e-policy & e-Government as well as the awareness and knowledge of international and global issue.
* To educate the future leaders in government, business and civic organization who can effectively meet the challenges of the globalizing world.
* To provide professional services to public and private sector organization to facilitate democratic process and market mechanism.
* To share the Korean experience and knowledge with other developing countries, which will enhance their ability to further their expertise in the areas of economic development and quality of life.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicant should:

* Be a government official or employee in public sector or researcher in state institute working in his/her home country with a Bachelor’s degree or high
* Be Nominated by Government
* Have sufficient command of both spoken and written English to take classes conducted entirely in English
* Be in good health both physically and mentally
* Be under 35 years of age
* Have not previously received a scholarship from the Korean Government

1. You are required to send two separate application packages in separate file covers.
2. Completely filled KOICA Application forms
3. Complete Application forms of GSG of SungKyunkwan University (Including recommendation letter and letter of consent)
4. Curriculum Vitae
5. Cover Letter (a personal statement) (if applicable)
6. Proof of government employment by your employer, without which your application will not be entertained.
7. Essay (write about below questions as free format)
* Explain your current job briefly
* Relating with your job and experience, write a preliminary (potential) master thesis title and subject (theme) on e-policy & e-government.
* What are the major problems in your country n the field of IT (or e-Government or e-administration) –nationally or relating with your job?
* What could be your primary study (research question)?
* How are you going to address those problems? What kind of methodologies could you possible think of?
* What would be your study (research process)?
* What would be the possible research findings (results)?
* What are the policy (practical)/theoretical implication?
* What would be a concrete action plan (road map) to solve those problems or to enhance your national competitiveness?
8. Sealed official undergraduate (16 years or equivalent) academic transcripts
9. Photocopied college diplomas or proof of prospective graduation.
10. Score reports for either the TOEFL or IELTS test (if applicable)
* The most recent scores are preferred and must be less then two years from the application deadline.
* Exception: international student whose native language is English-speaking or who have received BA or MA from an accredited English-         speaking institution.
11. Certificate of Employment, as mentioned in point number 6.
12. Two passport-size photographs
13. Copy of passport
14. All documents (diplomas, transcripts statements of purpose, recommendation letters etc) must be in English.
15. Surety bond / undertaking one copy each.
16. Any document missing from the list of required documents (in particular, Essay), the applicant may have some disadvantages in the process, Please make them clear to read.

Note: This scheme / training is only for Government Employees, if the applicant does not provide proof of government employment, the application will not be entertained.

2011 FORD MOTOR COMPANY INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP OF THE 92nd STREET Y

Ford Motor Company, a global corporation and world leader in corporate citizenship, and the 92nd Street Y, the world’s first global Jewish community and cultural center, are proud to join together for the Ford Motor Company International Fellowship of the 92nd Street Y. The program was designed with the goal of enhancing the efforts of emerging leaders in communities throughout the world.

Participating countries change each year. So far, 211 individuals from 57 countries have participated.

The 2011 Ford Motor Company International Fellowship of the 92nd Street Y is now accepting applications from community leaders who are citizens and residents of  Brazil, India, Indonesia, Israel, Turkey, Ukraine and Venezuela.

A successful applicant must demonstrate that he or she:

* is a community leader engaged in the nonprofit sector, either professionally or as a volunteer;
* is successfully addressing issues that affect the community’s well-being; and
* would benefit from an intensive three-week nonprofit management training course in New York.

Previous Ford Fellows include:

* a South African AIDS educator;
* the president of a Jewish aid society facilitating Bosnia-Herzegovina’s transition to democracy;
* a sustainable development expert from Zimbabwe;
* the founder of an Indian organization that educates women and children working in the silk industry; and
* an Indonesian advocate for ethnic minorities.

The residency takes place Thu, Jun 2 to Wed, Jun 22, 2011 in New York City. Airfare, accommodation, food, transportation, instruction and other program-related expenses are included in the fellowship and participants receive a small stipend upon arrival.

During the intensive three-week residency, Ford Fellows take classes in areas including nonprofit management strategy and leadership training at Columbia University’s Picker Center for Executive Education.  The academic curriculum is complemented by visits to model nonprofits in New York City and meetings with academic, business and government leaders. The experience is enhanced by Fellows’ residency at the 92nd Street Y, the world’s first global Jewish community and cultural center.  Founded in 1874 and considered a New York landmark, the 92nd Street Y annually serves over 300,000 people of all backgrounds, religions, nationalities, ethnicities, races and socio-economic groups.

University of Otago Postgraduate Award, New Zealand

Value: An emolument of $13,000 plus tuition fees at the NZ student level and costs incurred in the production of two hard bound theses.

Summary: This Award is offered by the University of Otago for Masters’ thesis study in any subject.

Comments: Postgraduate Awards are awarded by the University Council, on the recommendation of the Senate, to candidates in the first year of their thesis research for a Master’s degree.

Tenure of a Postgraduate Award by a Master’s degree student is for one year, or until the thesis is submitted, (whichever period is the shorter.) Students must be in the first year of their thesis research to be eligible for an Award. A shorter period of tenure shall be awarded in cases where four months or more of registration as a candidate for the degree have already been completed at the time of the award. Overseas tenure of a Postgraduate Award is not permitted.

Eligibility Information: Postgraduate Awards are available only to students seeking to obtain their first Masters qualification. The University of Otago Postgraduate Awards are open to Domestic Fee Paying Students only. Confirmation of the Award is dependent on approval of the application to register as a Masters candidate and completion of the enrolment procedure.

DREAM – 2nd International Students Summer Program and World Youth Leaders Assembly

DReAM is international student summer program  initiated by UGM students first in 2009 to embrace all differences of background, nationality, idealism, religions, and to conduct a research based activities in three realms of interests: small medium enterprises, post-disaster management, and community empowerment. The theme for this year DReAM is ‘Preparing Global Future Leaders for Better Awareness and Mutual Understanding among Nations’ by adopting the interfaith  cooperation approach in creating a better tomorrow.

International Student Summer Program for Better Nations Understanding: DREAM 2009 have been held from 21 July 2009 to 30 July 2009 by Office of International Affairs (KUI) Universitas Gadjah Mada. This is the first time UGM presenting International Summer Program 2009. The participants consisted of 15 foreign students from various countries and 15 local students. The program is designed based on field study approach and intercultural exchange program. The flexibility of the program gave students the opportunity to participate in both small group workshops as well as whole group activities to ensure positive friendship networks throughout the week. This program aimed to increase student’s awareness in order to be part of the global society through academic approach. By the end of the program participants have gained more insight and inspirations through the activities and acquisition of new skills.

There were some activities such as field trips, community service, extreme sport, and performance art from participating different countries. During the program the participants did not only interact with fellow participants, but also with local residents in the villages by indulging themselves in UGM’s Field College-Work (KKN) Program. Participants have been driven to elaborate the diverse beauty of famous Hindu temples and Buddhist temples in Yogyakarta. In the end of this program, at Closing Ceremony, the participants performed cultural acts based on their country culture.

Empowering Mind with Prevailing Lectures
DREaM International Students Summer Program 2009 is designed based on field study approach and intercultural exchange program. DREaM 2009 topics highlight on thethree specific areas which are disaster management, cultural empowerment, and microeconomics. The purpose of DREaM 2009 is to be a meeting place for discussion and debate, an arena where ideas are born, friendships are made, and valuable lessons are learned. For the academic agenda, the participants attend general lecture and grounded lecture.

The flexibility of the program gives participants the opportunity to participate in both small group workshops as well as whole group activities to ensure positive friendship networks throughout the week. Workshops will be challenging, fun, and practical; offering a combination of interactive lectures, group work, and presentations. TheDREaM participants divided into specific topics groups; each group contains foreign students and Indonesian students. By the end of the program they will have to present what they have worked on.

The objectives of this program are:

* Building the spirit of multiculturalism and interfaith collaboration for the next global leaders.
* Enhancing the responsibility of the youth to the society and environment
* Introducing cultural and traditional values for the development to the youth
* Why Interfaith?
* Interfaith cooperation approach is important issue because recently conflict has its root based on faith. From Catholic – Protestant conflict in Ireland to Pattani conflict in Thailand. This approach is expected to emerge mutual understanding among youth from different backgrounds
