MSc in Management with Business Finance, The York Management School

Applicants for the programme should have a keen interest in developing their knowledge of management  to include further specialism in business finance. The syllabus covers the core areas of management to an advanced level, including organisation theory, human resource management, e-business and IT applications and corporate strategy.

The specialist business finance modules equip students with technical knowledge integrated into the decision contexts of the strategic manager. Students should have studied an undergraduate degree with some finance and accounting content. See Entry Requirements for further information.

Entry requirements

Students are required to have a good undergraduate degree (2:1 or equivalent). For students whose first language is not English, we normally require evidence of English language ability. Specific requirements for each programme are listed below.

MSc Accounting and Financial Management – applicants should have a good first degree (2:1 or equivalent) in any of the following

* Finance and /or Accounting
* Other degrees where there is a substantial Management and Finance/Accounting component (about half of modules) or a record of relevant work experience/professional qualifications

MSc in Health Management – applicants should have a good first degree (2:1 or equivalent) in any subject. Please note that preference may be given to students with some prior study or experience of health management.

MA in Human Resource Management – applicants should have a good first degree (2:1 or equivalent) in a social science subject. Previous tuition in management subjects is desirable but it is not essential to have studied for an undergraduate degree in Management, Business or HRM.

MA in Management – applicants should have a good first degree (2:1 or equivalent) in any subject. Please note that preference may be given to students with some prior study of business management.

MSc in Management with Business Finance – applicants should have a good first degree (2:1 or equivalent) in any of the following

* Finance or Accounting. Ideally there should be some modules in other management subjects
* Management or Business Studies where there has been a substantial Finance, Accounting, and Economics component
* Economics, with some modules in Finance and Accounting
* Other degrees where there is a substantial Management, Finance/Accounting or Economics component (about half of the modules)

MSc in Corporate Social Responsibility with Environmental Management

MSc in International Business and Strategic Management

Typical offers for students from other countries

* China: offers range from 80 to 85 in the four year bachelor’s degree. Diplomas are not accepted.
* Greece: GPA of at least 7 in undergraduate degree
* India: First-class undergraduate degree
* Malaysia: GPA of at least 3 in undergraduate degree
* Pakistan: First-class undergraduate degree

English Language requirements

Applicants for whom English is not their first language should provide evidence of English language competence. Acceptable qualifications are:

* IELTS with overall score of 6.5 with not less than 6 in any component
* TOEFL: 587 in the paper-based test, 237 in the computer-based test, and 92 in the Internet-based test
* Cambridge Proficiency at Grade C or above

PhD Studentships

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Scientific research in any of the research lines on applied mathematics established in the center:

* Partial Differential Equations, Numerics and Control (PDE)
* Multiphysics, Inversion and Petroleum (MIP)
* Network Design, Analysis and Optimization (NET)
* Calculus of Variations and Elasticity (CVE)
* Mathematical Biology (MB)

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor degree in a field related to Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Computer Sciences;
* Good qualifications; and
* 2 reference or support letters.

STARTING DATE AND DURATION:

* Starting date will be agreed with the candidate; a tentative starting date is JUNE 1st 2010.
* 4 years. Position may revert in a Research Associate position, based on available funding and a positive evaluation.

GROSS YEARLY SALARY:

* It will be negotiated with each candidate, depending on the qualifications and research track, and it will be revised yearly, in accordance with the candidate’s performance and merits. In addition, the selected candidates will also receive Spanish Social Security
* coverage, comprising health care and contribution towards retirement pension.

PhD program Molecular Medicine in Hannover Biomedical Research School (HBRS)

PhD program Molecular Medicine

Hannover Medical School offers an international english PhD program in Molecular Medicine (former MD/PhD program) in cooperation with the Leibniz University of Hannover, the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, and the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI), Braunschweig. The program was funded within an international PhD-project (IPP) by the Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst und Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DAAD/DFG) from 2002 to 2006, and is now supported through funds of the German Excellence Initiative (BMBF). The program was accreditated as the first German PhD program according to European standards (ECTS) in December 2003.

The PhD program “Molecular Medicine” is part of the Hannover Biomedical Research School. The program aims for students of medicine, after finishing their MD studies, as well as for graduated students of life sciences, who have finished their master of science, particularly in biology, biochemistry and molecular biology. Start of the program is annually in October. Deadline for applications is April 1st.

The program can be finished with a PhD or Dr.rer.nat. (for life scientists). All students work in individually supervised research projects. It is an international English program with students from all over the world. Stipends are offered. Language courses are available. There are tutorials and methodological seminars in small groups. The dissertation project will be supervised by a group of supervisors. There are also cultural tutorials.

The theoretical part of the program comprises of English seminars in small groups and respective tutorials on selective topics of cellular and molecular biology. In addition, seminars are offered to specific research topics of molecular medicine.

The training for students of medicine will deepen their background of biomedical sciences. Scientists will understand medical and pathogenetic interrelationships. In addition, there is training and supervision particularly within the selected research projects. The dissertation is supervised by a group of three excellent scientists. Within that project the PhD students work independently on highly competitive and grant funded research projects. The results of this work will be presented and discussed in respective seminars and workshops.

Seminars, courses and research projects are offered in following areas:

” Cellbiology ” Genetics ” Immunology ” Infection biology ” Molecular pathology ” Developmental biology” Biochemistry

All obligatory seminars and courses of the PhD program are offered in English. The program “Molecular Medicine” has an international character with students coming from all over the world.
