Overview

The Sampoerna School of Business (SSB) creates a new direction for business education in Indonesia.  It is an innovative model where the curriculum is based on the highest international standards involving local and international faculty.  SSB’s facilities have been purpose built to deliver a new and different standard for teaching and learning in business education in Indonesia.

The Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) Graduate Fellowship at SMART, Singapore

The Singapore Ministry of Education has established 100 four-year fellowships for new doctoral students at NTU or NUS who will conduct their research at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre (SMART Centre).

The establishment of this Fellowship Programme is intended to attract to NTU and NUS the best and most talented doctoral students from Singapore, the region, and beyond and educate them to be future leaders in science and technology for Singapore and beyond. The Fellowship will provide them with the opportunity to be involved in the strategic research programmes at the SMART Centre and provide them with the opportunity to be co-advised by an MIT faculty member. The student may spend up to six months doing research at MIT.

The SMA Graduate Fellowship at SMART provides:

* up to four years of full tuition fees at the student’s home university;
* a monthly stipend of S$3,200;
* a scholarly allowance of up to S$12,000 to help cover the expenses associated with a six month research residency at MIT;
* and co-supervision by an MIT and NTU/NUS faculty.

There is no bond associated with this fellowship.

* In order to be eligible for an SMA Graduate Fellowship, a student must:
* have graduated with an undergraduate degree with first class or second-upper (or equivalent);
* be an incoming new PhD student not currently matriculated;
* have a research interest that fits within one or more of the projects currently being carried out in SMART Interdisciplinary Research Group (IRG)s.

The projects within the IRGs :

* BioSystems and Micromechanics (BioSyM)
* Center for Environmental Sensing and Modeling (CENSAM)
* Future Urban Mobility (FM)
* Infectious Diseases (ID)

Postgraduate Courses for Professionals with Relevance to Developing Countries 2011/2012

CALL for APPLICATION (Deadline 29th July 2010)

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) – Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst – supports a range of postgraduate courses at German universities which aim at providing academically educated young professionals from Developing Countries with further specialized studies. The DAAD supports these selected programs with a certain quota of scholarships and with financial assistance for a special tutoring system. At the end of the course (programs run 12 to 36 months, depending on the particular institution) participants can obtain an internationally recognized Master’s or in some courses PhD degree.

Target group:
University teaching staff, researchers and professionals holding an academic degree and with at least two years of experience in the public or private institutions in the following areas:

* Economic Sciences / Business Administration/ Political Economics
* Development Co-operation
* Engineering and related sciences
* Mathematics
* Regional Planning
* Agricultural and Forest Sciences
* Environmental Sciences
* Public Health / Veterinary Medicine / Medicine
* Sociology and Education

Language of instruction:

* German or English, depending on the degree course:
* Participants in postgraduate courses in which English is the language of instruction receive a scholarship for a two-month intensive German language course.
* Participants in postgraduate courses in which German or German/English is the language of instruction receive a scholarship for a six-month intensive German language course. Please note that the candidates must have certain German language certificate at the time of application.

Criteria for applying:

* Age limit: 36 years of age at the time of application (for some courses 32 years)
* Degree: Bachelor or Master
* GPA: min 2,75 for Master candidates (some study programs applied GPA more than 2,75. Please see the detail on the website of each study program) and 3,00 for Doctoral candidates
* Work experience: at least two years after completing Bachelor degree.

PHD STUDENTSHIP OPPORTUNITIES at University of the West of Scotland

UWS is committed to developing its research student community.
Over 80 studentships are currently available for an October 2010 start.

Unless otherwise specified, the University studentships involve the following benefits for home/EU students:

  • £6000 stipend per year for three years
  • Exemption from payment of fees (current value – £3400)

International students will be considered but will only be admitted on a self-funding basis. Applications should be submitted by 31st May 2010 (with an earlier deadline for some Creative and Cultural Industries projects).
